East Texas Baptist Throws Back-To-Back Softball Shutouts

Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University threw back-to-back shutouts to earn a Thursday night American Southwest Conference sweep over the Lady Eagles.

In game one, East Texas Baptist (18-8, 9-3 ASC) broke a scoreless game in the fourth when it plated a run off a hit and an Ozarks’ error. Leading 2-0 after five complete innings, the Lady Tigers scored four times in the sixth on three hits and three more Ozarks’ miscues. East Texas Baptist then held Ozarks (8-20, 3-15 ASC) scoreless in the top of the seventh to secure a 6-0 victory.

Amber Rollins (7-11) took the loss as the starter. Rollins was charged with only one earned run.

Heather Roberts paced Ozarks at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance.

In game two, East Texas Baptist invoked the run-rule after an inside the park grand slam gave the Lady Tigers a 11-0 victory in the fifth frame. East Texas Baptist held a 7-0 lead after three innings as Ozarks committed three of its five miscues during that time. The Lady Eagles were limited to three hits in the contest.

Tabitha Porter (1-8) took the loss.

Ozarks will conclude its series with East Texas Baptist tomorrow in a double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
