Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles (7-8, 2-7) won two of three games in their weekend series with Louisiana College (13-3, 6-3) in American Southwest Conference play in Clarksville.
The Eagles were defeated 16-2 in the first game on Friday, but picked up a 15-13 and 9-7 win on Saturday to edge closer to a .500 mark. After being notched at 2-2 in the seventh inning, the Eagles gave up 14 runs in the seventh to drop the first game of the series. Dustin Cole (0-1) received the loss after pitching six innings and giving up five hits. The Eagles came storming back in the second game, pounding out 19 hits in their highest scoring game of the season. The Eagles held a 15-9 lead after five innings of play before Louisiana College scored four runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap to 15-13. Both teams combined to score 21 runs after three innings of play. Each Ozarks starter recorded at least one hit in the game with Justin Brown leading the charge with four hits. Brown also had a team-best three RBI. Cliff Ford collected three hits. Trevor Holbert (3-1) came in relief for starter Justin Dixon and threw five innings while striking out four batters to pick up the win. In the final game of the series, the Eagles used a four run fifth inning to slip past Louisiana College. The Eagles held at 9-3 lead after five innings of play, but the Wildcats would eventually cut the lead to 9-7 after scoring score two runs in the final inning. Clint Phifer, Brett Hays and Rusty Farrin each had two hits apiece. Phifer had a team-best three RBI. Todd Vandevoir scored three runs. Frankie Collazo (1-0) received the win after striking out five in two and two-third innings. The Eagles will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, to face Mississippi College on March 21 and 22 in ASC action.
