Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles pushed their home unbeaten streak to six after gaining a 2-0 victory over McMurry University in American Southwest Conference play on Thursday.

Ozarks improves to 10-2-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the ASC, while McMurry falls to 2-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in league action.

Sophomore Brandon Cain set the tone early for Ozarks as he knocked one past the McMurry keeper one minute into the match. It was Cain’s fifth goal of the season. Shaun Renfro assisted the goal. The score remained 1-0 at the half, as McMurry kept things tight behind a five-shot first half attack. The Eagles dominated the second half statistically, holding a 12-4 shots advantage. Brandon VanCleave nearly added to the score in the 48th minute. McMurry’s keeper was drawn out leaving a 35-yard shot open for VanCleave, but his shot sailed just left of the post. Ten minutes later, however, Ozarks would capitalize on a corner kick to put the score at 2-0. Renfro launched a ball that went through several McMurry defenders and ended up at the feet of Matt Engelman. Engelman made the most of the opportunity and scored his second goal of the season. Meanwhile, Ozarks goalkeeper Brian Sarber batted off all of McMurry’s second half attempts to keep the visitors off the scoreboard. It was Sarber’s fourth shutout of the season, moving his career shutout total to 14. He ended the match with six saves.

The Eagles finished with 18 shots, with Cain recording six of those.

Ozarks will host Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
