Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles won their sixth straight match behind a two-goal performance by sophomore midfielder Brandon VanCleave on Tuesday.

Ozarks (7-1-0, 2-0-0) started the game slow, but finished strong in a 3-1 victory over Harding University (3-5-0) in a non-conference affair. It was the third match in five days for the Eagles, who also upped their all-time record to 7-0-1 against the Bison.

Brandon Cain scored in the 25th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead at the half. Matt Engleman set up Cain’s goal with a perfect pass to receive the assist.

Ozarks held a 8-5 shots advantage in the first half, but struggled to find energy through the first 45 minutes of play. Harding made things interesting early in the second half when Carter Truax found the back of the net in the 46th minute to even the score. However, that would be one of only two shots for the Bison in the second half as the Eagles rallied to score twice and take the match’s momentum.

VanCleave put Ozarks up 2-1 with a goal in the 72nd minute. He would score again in the 81st minute to put the game out of reach. VanCleave now has three goals this season. Jason Caskey, Dylan Evans and Cain had assists in the match. Ozarks finished with a 18-7 shots advantage. Cain had six of the 18.

Brian Sarber started in goal for the Eagles and had one save. Jeffrey Enevoldsen played the entire second half.

Ozarks will travel to Richardson, Texas, to face UT-Dallas in a conference match on September 22.
