Eagles Win Sixth Straight ASC Match

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles (8-4-1), (6-2-1) won their sixth straight American Southwest Conference match after defeating Louisiana College 6-1 on Friday and Mississippi College 1-0 on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Ron Hogsett recorded his fourth career game in which he has scored at least three goals in a match in the Eagles 6-1 win on Friday. Hogsett, who has scored seven goals in his last four matches, gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead over Louisiana College (0-13-0), (0-9-0) in the 32nd minute after nailing his first goal. Hogsett would add two more goals in the second half. Hogsett leads the team in goals (9) and points (21) and is tied for third in the conference in each of those categories. Senior forward Ricky Herrera had two goals of his own in the match, giving him 50 career goals. Junior midfielder Will Brahic scored his fifth goal of the year in the second half to put the Eagles up 6-0 with 19 minutes left in the match. Hogsett, Brahic and junior midfielder Justin Goodman each had assists in the match. The Eagles out shot the Wildcats 21-8. Junior goalkeeper Chris Schultz had four saves. Ozarks’ freshman forward Jared Gordon would score the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute to lift the Eagles to a 1-0 win over Mississippi College (2-10-0), (3-6-0) on Saturday. Gordon’s goal came off a pass from freshman forward Ryan Skelly. Gordon now has four goals on the year. The Eagles out shot the Choctaws 13-12, with Herrera and Brahic each recording three shots apiece. Schultz recorded his 20th career shut out in the victory and had three saves. Ozarks will play their next four conference matches at home. Ozarks will face East Texas Baptist on October 17 and then take on LeTourneau on October 18.
