Eagles Win Second Straight

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles used a 10-3 run in the final five minutes of the first half to help them earn a 63-58 win over Texas-Tyler Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.

It was the second straight win for Ozarks (6-10, 3-8 ASC) this week. The Eagles got a spark late in the first half from the Ponder, Texas, connection to take a commanding 36-25 lead into the half. Marcus Bobb started the run with a jumper at the 4:20 mark and David Robertson finished it with a pair of free throw with 1:22 remaining.

Texas-Tyler (5-10, 4-6 ASC) began the second half with a 11-0 rally to tie the score 36-36. The Patriots would later take a one-point lead at the 12:04 mark. Both teams exchanged baskets over the next eight minutes, but Ozarks established some momentum when Dustin Morett hit a three-pointer with 4:39 left. Texas-Tyler wouldn’t go away and cut it to 59-58 with 1:08 remaining. Jermery Victor then hit a clutch jumper with 42 second left and the Patriots missed a three on their next possession. Andre Williams, the top free throw shooter in the ASC, made both of his free throws with 13 ticks left to clinch to the game.

Shawn Curtis led Ozarks with 15 points. Bobb followed with 13 points and eight rebounds. Morett hit three three-pointers to score 11 points.

Ozarks will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College January 20.
