Marshall, Texas- Ozarks won its second straight American Southwest Conference match by handling East Texas Baptist University 2-1 Thursday night on the road.
After a scoreless first half, Ozarks (2-5-1, 2-3-0 ASC) became more aggressive on the offensive end in the opening minutes of the second half. The Eagles took four shots, two of which were on goal, in the first six minutes. Ozarks eventually wore down the Tigers (3-5-0, 2-3-0 ASC) defense and scored a goal in the 54th minute on a header from Josh Duncan. Marcus Aldaba set up the goal on a cross into the box. The Eagles continued to generate shots and scored again in the 79th minute off a corner kick. Duncan lofted one into the box and Shaun Keane found the back of the net to put Ozarks in front 2-0. Ozarks outshot the Tigers 10-5 in the second half. The Eagles did give up a goal with less than a minute to play, but it was too late for the Tigers.
“It was a good effort tonight,” said Head Coach John Cossaboon. “It was our best game of the season and it gives us something we can build upon. We played solid up and down the whole field. Our back four that consists of Adrian, Travis, Patrick and Antonio, along with Matt in goal, put on a great defensive effort.”
Mouer recorded six saves.
Ozarks will host Texas-Tyler October 4 and LeTourneau University October 6.
