Eagles Win Eighth Straight Over Louisiana College

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's soccer team defeated Louisiana College for the eighth straight time after a Brandon Cain goal in the 9th minute helped the Eagles power past the Wildcats 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play on Friday.

The Eagles (5-4-1, 2-2-0) never looked back after Cain scored his third goal of the season early in the contest. The win sets up a big ASC match-up with the Mississippi College Choctaws, who own a 7-1-1 overall record and a 3-1-1 league mark, tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. <#IMAGE:1#> Ryan Skelly scored on a header in the 30th minute on a Darren Clark assist to give Ozarks a 2-0 advantage. Louisiana College (2-7-0, 0-5-0) managed a goal in the 38th minute to bring the score to 2-1. However, Ozarks’ Brandon VanCleave chipped a shot over the Louisiana College keeper’s head in the 60th minute to give the Eagles a 3-1 cushion. Jared Gordon set up the shot with a nice assist. Gordon then scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 67th minute on an assist from Clark. Ozarks dominated the shots column, owning a 26-3 advantage. Cain had a team-best 7 shots, with 5 of those as shots on goal. Gordon cranked out 5 shots of his own. Jason Owens received the assist on Cain’s goal. Ozarks goalkeeper Brian Sarber had 1 save.
