Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O men's soccer team won the American Southwest Conference East division with an 8-1-1 conference record.
The Eagles can claim the title after a 4-0 win over Austin College on October 14. Ozarks currently has a 15-1-1 overall record and leads the East division by two games. U of O has had one of the best season performances in the history of the ASC. The Eagles lead the conference in several statistical categories including goals per game (4.21), points per game (12.93), assists per game (4.0) and goals allowed per game (.67). Marcos Gonzalez set an ASC and NCAA III record earlier in the year by recording 8 assists against Rhema Bible College on September 4. Armando Vergara set a new ASC record with his four-goal, ten-point effort against University of Dallas on October 12. Six Ozarks’ players have earned conference player of the week honors thus far. U of O will host the ASC post-season tournament on November 2 & 3, with U of O playing at 2 p.m. on November 2. The championship match is set for Saturday, November 3 at 1 p.m. Ozarks will be one of four teams in the tournament. The winner of the ASC championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA III tournament. NCAA III sites will be announced after conference tournaments.
