Eagles Win 4-1 Over ETBU Tigers

Clarksville, Ark.--The Eagles defeated East Texas Baptist University 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Hurie Field.

The Eagles’ offense spearheaded a solid team effort in their victory over the Tigers (2-2-0, 0-2-0) all while playing a man down for 85 minutes of the match following a controversial red card in the 4th minute. Will Brahic scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 2nd minute. Ozarks (4-3-0, 2-0-0) would tack on three additional goals before ETBU finally put points on the board in the 54th minute. Darren Clark nailed a running shot from 15 yards out in the 32nd minute to give Ozarks a 2-0 lead. Ron Hogsett received the assist. Nathan Abbott added a goal of his own in the 44th minute to push the lead to 3-0. Malcolm Williams collected the assist after out hustling two ETBU defenders down the field to put the Eagles in scoring position. Hogsett would add to his team-leading goal total when he scored in the 47th minute. Hogsett now has a team-best 5 goals and 15 points on the season. Ozarks out shot ETBU 17-11. Hogsett had 7 shots in the match. Ten other Ozarks’ players had one shot apiece. Goalkeeper Chris Schultz had 3 saves. Ozarks will travel to Tyler, Texas, to face UT-Tyler on September 24 and Richardson, Texas, on September 25 to face UT-Dallas in conference play.
