Eagles Top Williams Baptist College

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles scored a pair of second half goals to overcome a sluggish first half and hung on for a 2-1 win over Williams Baptist College Saturday afternoon.

remains unbeaten on the season with a 4-0-1 record and will face Central Baptist College September 17 in Conway.

The Eagles fought their way through a first half that saw Williams Baptist (2-1-0) hold a 5-3 shots advantage and a 2-1 corner kick advantage. Ozarks did respond early in the second half when Shaun Keane headed in a goal off a corner kick. Keane rebounded a Thomas Mills’ ball that hit the crossbar and fired it past the goalkeeper. Ozarks took that momentum and later added a goal in the 79th minute when Mills ripped one past the keeper. Gage Merritt set Mills up for the left-footed shot with an assist. Williams Baptist made things interesting when it scored in the 86th minute, but the Eagles played strong backline defense to secure the match.

Austin Benner recorded four saves for Ozarks.
