Clarksville, Ark.-- Ozarks dropped a 6-2 decision to preseason favorite Mississippi College in American Southwest Conference East division play on March 11.
The Eagles took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the fourth inning after Chris Harrell knocked in Robby Finnell. The Choctaws came back to take a 2-1 lead after five innings. The Eagles tied the score in the top of the sixth when Brett Hays knocked in Todd Koch. Mississippi College (11-4, 2-1), however, then scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Eagles collected only four hits in the game. Jedd Kirby (3-2) received the loss after pitching six innings. Kirby had seven strikeouts. Ozarks will host Austin College (3-12, 0-3) in a three-game ASC East division series beginning this March 18. Ozarks will name its baseball field in honor of former longtime coach and instructor Lonnie Qualls in a special dedication ceremony on Friday. The ceremony to name Lonnie R. Qualls Field will begin at 1:30 p.m., just before the Eagles’ 2 p.m. game. The public is invited to the ceremony and the game.
