Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Eagles improved to 2-0 in the American Southwest Conference East Division following a 79-73 win over East Texas Baptist January 16 and a 80-77 win over LeTourneau University January 18.
The Eagles outscored ETBU 15-12 in the final six minutes of the game to pick up a win in their opening ASC East Division game. Ozarks shot just 38 percent from the field in the first half, but still held a 38-30 lead at intermission. A Michael Bollman jumper and a Brad Johnson free throw with just under 1:15 to play in the game help seal the win for the Eagles. Bollman finished with 22 points on 9 of 13 shooting from the field. Mandrell Howell followed with 17 points and Ricky Johnson scored 13 points. Shane Norrid had a team-best eight rebounds. Brad Johnson had four assists and five steals. The Eagles squeezed out a 81-79 victory over LeTourneau on Saturday to push their conference record to 2-0. Ozarks took a four point lead going into halftime and battled back and forth with the Yellow Jackets in the second half, but eventually took the lead for good with 11:08 remaining in the game on a lay-up by Brad Johnson. Ozarks’ starters combined for 64 points in the win with Bollman having a team-high 28 points. Howell added 16 points and Norrid chipped in 10 points. Norrid grabbed nine rebounds to lead Ozarks.
