Eagles Suffer 80-76 Loss In ASC Championship Tournament

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles dropped a 80-76 decision to Hardin-Simmons University in the American Southwest Conference championship tournament on Friday night in Clinton, Mississippi.

The Eagles’ defense created a turnover with 2:54 left and Josh Joyner converted on a layup to give Ozarks (12-14, 10-13) a 71-70 lead, but Hardin-Simmons (19-7, 17-6) would hit several clutch free throws down the stretch to advance to tomorrow’s semi-final game against Mississippi College. The Cowboys held a 40-35 lead at halftime and hit 50 percent of their shots in the first half. Ozarks was dominated on the boards, being out rebounded 41-28 in the contest. The Cowboys also hit 14-of-14 from the free throw line in the second half. Brent Johnson led the team with 16 points. David Hamilton and Josh Joyner each had 15 points. Johnson had a team-best 7 rebounds.
