Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles picked up their third road win in their last four tries, this time taking a 75-58 victory over Louisiana College Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
Ozarks remains in the thick of the ASC East Division playoff race with the win. Ozarks improves to 8-6 in the ASC, tied with UT-Tyler for fourth place in the division. Only the top four teams make the playoffs. The Eagles (10-9) are set to host Mississippi College (13-5, 9-5) February 5. The game can be heard locally on KXIO 106.9 FM and on the web at www.kxio.nu.
Neither team could gain much momentum in the first half, but Ozarks did establish a 40-31 lead at intermission behind Tony Daniels 12 points. Daniels hit a three-pointer and later completed a three point play with under seven minutes left in the half to put pressure on the Wildcats (3-15, 1-13). The Eagles dominated the rebounding column, owning a 22-10 advantage at the half. Ozarks shot the ball well in the second half, hitting 51 percent of their attempts, while Louisiana College had trouble from the field, making only 29 percent. Ozarks held a double-digit lead for all but the first two minutes of the second half. Tony Brock’s layup at the 16:31 mark gave Ozarks a comfortable 50-36 advantage. An Andre Williams jumper with 10:37 left put Ozarks ahead 61-45, and a Chris Williams three-pointer with seven minutes left gave the Eagles a 66-47 lead.
Chris Williams recorded his ninth double-double of the season scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Daniels finished with 12 points and Colby Woolverton added 10 points.
