Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 76-61 win over Ecclesia College Monday afternoon in Springdale.
The Eagles (4-8) put on a dominating performance and got double-digit scoring efforts from four players. Ozarks also started the game hot, hitting four three-pointers in the first seven minutes to build a 18-9 lead. Shawn Curtis kept Ozarks in control with 11 first half points and eight rebounds. His bucket allowed the Eagles to take a 25-15 advantage with 9:25 left. Jermery Victor would hit Ozarks’ fifth three-pointer of the first half to increase their lead to 30-18 with 6:38 left. Ozarks went on a 8-3 run in the final three minutes of the half to hold a 40-27 advantage.
The Eagles would build on their halftime lead and hold a 48-29 advantage after Marcus Bobb scored inside four minutes into the second half. Ozarks then maintained a double-digit lead until the 3:36 mark. Ozarks quickly put Ecclesia’s comeback hopes to rest when it finished the half on a 10-4 run.
Bobb totaled 17 points and seven rebounds. Curtis posted a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), while Victor and Andre Williams scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Ozarks will travel to Belton, Texas, to face Mary Hardin-Baylor January 6. Ozarks will play at Concordia University Texas January 8.
