The Eagles were successful in their home game against American Southwest Conference opponent Sul Ross State on Monday night.

The Eagles (6-4) survived a late minute comeback by the Lobos to pick up their sixth victory of the year and fifth win over an ASC West opponent this season. With the Eagles holding onto a comfortable 82-71 lead with under one minute left in the game, the Lobos made things interesting as they connected on two three-pointers within a span of twenty seconds. Sul Ross had a chance to cut the lead to 82-81, but the Eagles forced a turnover with eleven seconds to play. The Eagles overcame a 31-29 deficit at halftime and used strong second half performances from guard Mandrell Howell and forward Michael Bollman to upend a determined Lobos team. Howell and Bollman were equally impressive in the second half, scoring 13 points each. Bollman’s dunk at the 9:56 mark, gave the Eagles a sizable 63-51 lead. Howell began the second half with a flourish, scoring five quick points to give the Eagles a 37-33 advantage and the lead for good. Ricky Johnson contributed 13 points. Bollman had a team best 16 rebounds and Howell snagged 10 rebounds. Ozarks begins their five-game road stretch in Texas when they play Schreiner University of January 9.
