Clarksville, Ark.--The Eagles blanked Mississippi College 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (7-6-0, 4-3-0) used two second half goals and a strong defensive effort to record their second shutout in a row and their fourth of the season. Ron Hogsett netted the match’s first goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute. A frustrated Choctaw (7-4-0, 4-4-0) defense then saw Jared Gordon score a goal just twenty seconds later to put the Eagles up for good. It was Hogsett’s ninth goal of the year and Gordan’s seventh. Ozarks out shot the visitors 14-9. Hogsett had a team-best four shots in the contest. Goalkeeper Chris Shultz recorded six saves in the win. With just six ASC games remaining, the Eagles and Lady Eagles travel to Abilene, Texas, to face McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University on October 15th and 16th.
