Eagles Score Early, Often To Dominate Match

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles scored two goals within the first eight minutes to take control of the match early in Thursday?s 5-1 win over McMurry University in American Southwest Conference action.

Ozarks (3-4-0, 2-1-0 ASC) took the War Hawks (1-6-0, 0-3-0 ASC) out of the match with a goal in the 2nd, 8th and 17th minute to hold a 3-0 halftime advantage. Ozarks created shots with quick and precise passing throughout the match, and were particularly effective in their passing efforts in their first three goals. Travis Murnan assisted on the first two goals with perfect passing as he found the feet of Tony Santoro and Eloy Salgado. Murnan then scored a goal of his own on a nice assist from Salgado.

In the second half, Salgado scored his seventh goal of the season in the 52nd minute. Cesar Cuevas received credit for the assist. Ozarks’ final goal came when Josh Duncan knocked one in the 69th minute. Shaun Keane had the assist. Ozarks nearly recorded a shutout, but McMurry scored with 11 seconds left in the match.

Ozarks dominated in corner kicks (11-3).

Ozarks will host Hardin-Simmons University Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The match can be heard on www.kxio.nu and locally on 106.9 FM.
