Eagles Roll To 2-0 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles rolled to a 2-0 victory behind two first half goals over American Southwest Conference opponent LeTourneau University on Saturday.

For the second straight match, Ozarks (12-2-3, 7-2-2) struck early as they scored in the 16th and 18th minutes of play. Prior to the first goal, Matt Engelman and Guido Salas worked a perfect 1-2 combination, but LeTourneau goalkeeper Kyle Davis made a nice save on Salas’ shot in the 6th minute. The duo wouldn’t be kept down very much longer though. Engelman scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 16th minute. Anthony Santoro received the assist. Engelman then connected with Salas in the 18th minute for the freshman’s sixth goal of the year.

With the Eagles up 2-0 in the second half, LeTourneau (7-9-2, 5-4-2) was awarded a penalty kick in the 76th minute, but Ben Stoeckman’s shot hit off the crossbar.

Ozarks owned a 15-8 shots advantage, with Salas recording six of those. He had five on goal.

Brian Sarber recorded seven saves and had his seventh shutout of the season.

Ozarks will travel to Austin, Texas, to face Concordia University Texas October 30. They will then go to Tyler, Texas, to play UT-Tyler November 1.

Game notes:
-Ozarks owns a 264-166 shots advantage this season. It was the eighth time this season Ozarks has out shot their opponent.
-It was the final regular season home match for five seniors on the team. Dan De Hart, Wilson Jones, Brandon Pierson, Brian Sarber and Sebastian Teeling were all honored prior to the match.
-For the second straight match, Ozarks scored all of their goals in the first half. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 22-3 in the first half this season.
-Goalkeeper Brian Sarber notched his seventh shutout of the year. The senior has 24 career shutouts to his name.
