Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles couldn?t overcome a 2-1 halftime deficit despite outshooting Westminster 11-3 in the second half as the Blue Jays took a 4-2 win Saturday afternoon.

Westminster (3-1-0) struck first when Chad Miller scored on a free kick in the 24th minute. The Eagles (1-3-0) evened the score when Eloy Salgado took a pass from Cameron Wagner and connected on a shot in the 40th minute. Just when the match appeared to be headed to intermission, Westminster scored a goal with only seconds left in the first half.

Leading 2-1, Westminster added another goal in the 71st minute to go ahead 3-1. Prior to that, Salgado had an opportunity to score, but his shot went wide. Travis Murnan’s header sailed wide, too, only minutes after Salgado’s attempt. The Eagles continued to attack in the second half and eventually broke the Westminster defense when a foul was called in the box. Salgado connected on a penalty kick, which came in the 79th minute, to bring the score to 3-2. It was his fourth goal of the season. Westminster, however, fought back and scored an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.

Ozarks outshot Westminster 17-8 in the match. Salgado led Ozarks with seven shots, six of which were on frame.

Ozarks will begin conference play next weekend when it travels to Louisiana and Mississippi to face Louisiana College September 15 and Mississippi College September 17.
