Belton, Texas-The Eagles pulled off a 2-0 upset over the No. 14 ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (4-5-0, 3-2-0 ASC) got a goal from Shaun Keane in the 41st minute to put the Eagles ahead 1-0. The Eagles played stout defense throughout the match and were able to keep the Crusaders (5-1-1, 4-1-0 ASC) scoreless in the second half. Guido Salas outran the Crusader defense in the second half and got a goal in the 52nd minute. Travis Murnan received the assist.

“We defended well today, the best we have all season,” said head coach John Cossaboon. “It was a good win to get on the road against the top ASC team and the No. 14 ranked team in the nation.”

Ozarks goalkeeper Neil Thompson posted his third shutout of the season and had three saves against UMHB.

“Neil Thompson played a phenomenal game in goal today,” said Cossaboon. “He stepped up and made some major saves to keep them off the board.”

Ozarks will play at Howard Payne University Saturday.
