Eagles Produce Comeback; Battle To 2-2 Tie

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles produced two goals in the second half to overcome a 2-0 deficit and ended the match with a 2-2 overtime tie against Concordia University Texas Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action.

The Tornados (5-7-2, 5-4-2 ASC) scored just seconds prior to halftime to maintain a narrow lead until adding another goal in the 60th minute. Trailing 2-0, the Eagles (6-9-1, 5-6-1 ASC) stormed back behind goals from Guido Salas and Shaun Keane. Salas scored in the 74th minute on a pass from Eloy Salgado to pull Ozarks within 2-1. Keane then took a nice pass from Cole Parton full speed and netted a goal in the 76th minute. Salas almost finished off the Tornados after taking a great touch pass from Keane in the 88th minute, but Concordia goalkeeper Jacob Kern made an outstanding save to keep Ozarks from the win.

In the first overtime, Logan Hornback’s header sailed high in the 96th minute. In the second overtime, Concordia hit the post on a shot attempt in the 107th minute.

Both teams were nearly even statistically, with Ozarks recording 16 shots, while Concordia finished with 17. Concordia had one more corner kick (6-5) than Ozarks. Neil Thompson posted 10 saves, while Stern recorded eight stops. Salas had four shots.

The Eagles will travel to Richardson, Texas, to face Texas-Dallas October 25 and then complete the regular season with a home match against Centenary October 29.
