Eagles Post Third Shutout With 5-0 Win Over Bacone

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's soccer posted their third shutout of the season when they blasted Bacone College 5-0 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Ozarks (2-1-1, 0-0-0) maintained a 3-0 advantage at halftime behind the scoring efforts of Jared Gordon, Dylan Evans and Ryan Puhl. Gordon scored his first goal of the season and his 20th of his career when he nailed a shot in the 18th minute off a corner kick. Dan De Hart received the assist. Evans followed minutes later when he took a pass from Ryan Skelly and hit a shot from 10 yards out in the 24th minute. Ozarks posted another score after Puhl put one in the back of the net just 15 seconds before halftime. Skelly received the assist. It was the first collegiate goals for both Evans and Puhl. The Eagles totaled 12 shots in the first half.<#IMAGE:1#> The second half saw Ozarks hold the Warriors (0-4-0, 0-0-0) to just three shots. Evans struck again in the 69th minute on an assist from Jared Taylor. Taylor came back in the 73rd minute to give Ozarks their fifth and final goal of the match. Ozarks ended the contest with 22 shots while holding the visitors to 10. Fourteen Ozarks’ players took shots in the match, with Gordon leading the way with 4. Brian Sarber started the contest and collected 6 saves. Jeffery Enevoldsen finished the final twenty minutes and had 2 saves. Ozarks will begin American Southwest Conference play against University of Texas-Tyler on September 15 in Tyler, Texas. The Eagles will then face Concordia-Austin on September 16 in Austin.
