Clarksville, Ark.-The men?s tennis team posted a solid showing at the ITA Regionals held in Tyler, Texas over the weekend.
Todd Turner and Bishop Bass were seeded No. 12 and No. 14 in singles, respectively. The sophomore duo received the No. 8 seed for doubles. The two did not disappoint as both won in the round of 64. Turner defeated Nathan Chavez from Hardin-Simmons 6-1, 7-6. Bass took a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Henry Henk of Hardin-Simmons. Turner fell in the round of 32, but Bass advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ryan Delcambre of Texas Lutheran University. Bass then fell in the quarterfinals to Erick de la Fuente 6-2, 7-5.
Turner and Bass teamed up for a 8-1 victory over the duo of John Contreras and Tevin Ogo from Mary Hardin-Baylor. The stellar play of Turner and Bass advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 9-8 win over Daniel Budd and Doug Kierstead from Texas-Tyler. Turner and Bass dropped their quarterfinal match to the eventual doubles champions from Trinity University.
Scott Eibes and Greg Knaggs did not get past the round of 32 in doubles as a result of an injury.
Ozarks will travel to John Brown University October 3.
