Clarksville, Ark.-Concordia University Texas pulled out a 91-87 win over the Eagles in their American Southwest Conference opener Saturday in Austin, Texas.
The high-scoring affair saw the Tornados (1-3, 1-0) hold a 46-36 halftime lead. Andre Williams hit his third three-pointer late in the first half to cut the deficit to 39-32. He led Ozarks with 11 first half points.
Ozarks (2-3, 0-1) fought back in the second half to trim Concordia’s lead to single digits. Jeremy Clark canned a three to make it 82-79 with 6:15 remaining and Williams later Ozarks a 86-85 lead with 2:40 left after a pair of free throws. Tony Brock sank two free throws with 58 seconds left to pull within 88-87. A clutch jumper by Tornado guard Joel McDonald in the waning moments sealed the game.
Andre Williams led Ozarks with 25 points. Clark had 16, Chris Williams added 13 and Tony Daniels had 11.
Ozarks will face Mary Hardin-Baylor Monday night in Belton, Texas.
