Clarksville, Ark.-Guido Salas and Scott Janders scored goals to pace the Eagles to a 2-1 win over Howard Payne University in American Southwest Conference play Friday.
Salas got the only goal of the first half when he scored in the 25th minute after knocking in a deflected ball. Anthony Santoro got the assist. The Eagles (7-4-0, 3-3-0) defense held steady and allowed only three shots the rest of the half to maintain the lead. Ozarks extended its advantage to 2-0 early in the second half when Scott Janders headed in a cross from Brandon VanCleave. It was Janders’ sixth goal of the season.
Both Janders and Dylan Evans had a pair of shots.
Neil Thompson recorded two saves in goal for Ozarks. Howard Payne drops to 5-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in league action.
The Eagles will play at Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
