Clarksville, Ark.-Ronnie Dodd and Marcus Bobb combined for 55 points to psuh Ozarks to a 88-86 overtime win against Sul Ross State University Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
The duo would come up big in overtime scoring all 13 of the Eagles’ points in the extra period. A pair of Dodd free throws with 10 seconds left in overtime put Ozarks (4-9, 2-6 ASC) in front 87-83. Sul Ross State (3-10, 2-5 ASC) would hit a three-pointer on its next possession to pull within one point. However, the Lobos sent Ozarks to the line with .5 left in the game where Bobb hit one of his attempts.
Andrew Cummings put Ozarks ahead 60-49 at the 9:37 mark of the second half, but the Lobos would go on a 26-15 run after that to send the game into overtime. Cummings put the Eagles on top 75-72 with 52 seconds left in the game, but Justin Weldon drilled a three-pointer with 38 seconds remaining.
The Eagles held a narrow 38-36 halftime lead behind 13 points from Dodd and 12 points from Bobb. Dodd gave Ozarks a 36-29 advantage with 2:25 left in the first half before Sul Ross came back to get within two points.
In the second half, Sul Ross held the lead on three occasions, but couldn’t overcome Ozarks’ strong inside duo.
Dodd poured in 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Bobb finished with 27 points.
