Eagles Move To 6-1-0

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles moved to 6-1-0 after a 3-1 win over American Southwest Conference foe Concordia University Texas on Sunday in Clarksville.

Jason Caskey netted the match’s first goal in the 14th minute on an assist from Darren Clark. Philip Johnson came off the bench to spark the Eagles, scoring his second goal of the year in the 33rd minute. Dylan Evans and Brandon Cain had assists on the play. Johnson’s score gave Ozarks a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Clark put the Eagles up 3-0 early in the second half. His goal came in the 47th minute on a pass from Brandon VanCleave. Concordia (2-3-0, 0-2-0) put a shutout out of reach for the Eagles as the Tornados scored in the 85th minute.

Ozarks held a 18-6 shots advantage, with Caskey leading the team with four. Caskey, Clark and Johnson had three shots on goal. Brian Sarber had four saves in 90 minutes of action.

The 2007 Eagles are off to one of the best starts in school history. The 2005 team had a 6-1-0 record to begin the season while the 2001 team went 6-0-1 to open the year.

Ozarks will host Harding University on Tuesday in non-conference play.
