Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Eagles kept their American Southwest Conference East Division record perfect with a 91-78 win over the reigning East Division champion East Texas Baptist University Tigers on Thursday night.

The Eagles (5-8, 2-0) controlled the game from the outset and remained unbeaten in East Division play with their second consecutive win over a league opponent. The Tigers (5-7, 0-1) were held in check for most of the contest as Ozarks used a swarming defense to hold the Tigers to a 41 percent shooting clip from the field. The Eagles held a 38-30 lead at intermission and increased their lead to 70-56 after Scott McCall hit a jumper with 9:27 left in the game. The Tigers did trim the lead to 50-47 at the 13:47 mark. However, the Eagles hit back-to-back three-pointers to quickly give themselves a nine point advantage. The Eagles benefited from a solid free throw shooting night. Ozarks hit a season-best 18-of-21 (86%) from the charity stripe. The Tigers shot just 3-of-17 (16%) from the three-point line while the Eagles hit 7-of-21 (33%) from beyond the arc. Brent Johnson, who went 9-of-9 from the free throw line, scored 25 points for the second straight game. Johnson was followed in the scoring column by Reggie Brasfield’s 15 points. Brasfield nailed four three-pointers in the game. Josh Joyner added 13 points and David Hamilton recorded 10 points. Joyner contributed a team-best 5 assists. The Lady Eagles and Eagles finish their five-game home stand when they host LeTourneau University on Saturday afternoon. Saturday’s game will be Ozarks’ Hall of Fame game as five former U of O standouts will be inducted at a ceremony between games. Tip off for the women’s game is set for 1 p.m.
