Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University's Dewones Smith hit a three-pointer with 13.3 second remaining to give the YellowJackets a 86-84 win over the Eagles on Saturday.
Ozarks (5-9, 4-6) was in good shape with 4:46 to play as they held a 79-72 advantage. However, LeTourneau (10-4, 8-3) stormed back to take a 80-79 lead at the 2:21 mark behind a pair of three-pointers. Holding a 83-81 edge with 1:23 remaining, LeTourneau was unable to stop Ozarks’ Chris Clark from hitting a clutch three with 37.3 seconds left. With Ozarks up 84-83, Smith pulled the trigger on a game-winning trifecta that sealed the American Southwest Conference game for LeTourneau. Ted Beard was one of five players in double figures for Ozarks. Beard finished with 20 points. Tony Daniels followed with 12 points and had a team-best 13 rebounds. Habeeb Kareem added 11 points and Clint McHenry and Jeremy Clark each had 10 points. Ozarks dominated the boards, out rebounding the YellowJackets 41-26.
