Eagles Fall In Championship Match

Abilene, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons University handed Ozarks a 2-0 loss in the American Southwest Conference championship tournament on Sunday afternoon in Abilene, Texas.

Hardin-Simmons (13-4-2) held a 2-0 lead at the half thanks to a goal by David Salas in the 20th minute and another by Bryan Staub in the 33rd minute. Ozarks (13-4-5) had an offensive opportunity near the end of the first half when a Ryan Skelly header sailed over the bar. Hardin-Simmons held a 20-13 shot advantage. Ozarks had nine shots on goal. Josh Carrasco, Darren Clark and Cody Ellis each had three shots. Ozarks keeper Brian Sarber had eight saves. Ozarks moves to 5-5 all-time in the ASC playoffs. Sarber, Cyrus Smith and Ryan Skelly made the All-Tournament team.
