Pineville, La.-A combined four goals were scored in the first half, but neither Ozarks or Louisiana College could put another one in the back of the net as the match ended in a 2-2 tie Friday afternoon in Pineville, Louisiana.

Ozarks moves to 7-6-4 overall and 2-4-3 in the American Southwest Conference. Louisiana College, which pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over nationally-ranked Texas-Dallas Thursday, took a 1-0 advantage in the 6th minute before a series of goals made for an exciting two minutes at the midway point of the first half. Travis Leach scored off a header in the 24th minute to even the match 1-1. Shaun Keane received the assist. The Wildcats (9-7-1, 6-2-1 ASC) then came back just seconds later to move ahead 2-1 in the 25th minute. Ozarks countered one minute later to tie the contest 2-2 on Gage Merritt’s goal. In the first overtime, Ozarks created two shots, and in the second overtime Louisiana College had five shots.

“I was proud of the boys today,” said head coach John Cossaboon. “We came back from a tough loss yesterday and played better. The boys put forth a great effort against a really good team today. This was a good accomplishment for them.”

Austin Benner had nine saves in the match. Merritt had five shots for Ozarks.

Ozarks will travel to Richardson, Texas, to face Texas-Dallas in its final match of the regular season November 2.
