Tyler, Texas-The men?s basketball team was eliminated from playoff contention after dropping a 89-80 decision against American Southwest Conference opponent Texas-Tyler Saturday afternoon.
Ozarks (9-16, 6-14 ASC) had to win Saturday’s East Division game to extend life into the post-season. Texas-Tyler (8-17, 7-13 ASC), however, outscored Ozarks 32-23 in the final nine minutes of the contest to end the Eagles’ playoff hopes. Marcus Bobb tied the game, 57-57, with 9:12 remaining only to see the Patriots build a 72-62 lead four minutes later. The Eagles did trim the deficit to six points with two minutes left, but couldn’t get any closer.
Ozarks had four players in double figures, with Bryton Flint leading the way with 25 points. Ronnie Dodd followed with 15 points, and Bobb and Charles Palmer each finished with 11 points.
