Jackson, Miss.-The Eagles lost their season-opener 11-3 against Millsaps College in the Wilson-DeMarini Classic Friday night after a long rain delay.

Ozarks (0-1) opened on the road in Jackson, Miss., and will play nationally ranked Piedmont College tomorrow. Ozarks threatened in the first inning when it loaded the bases on a walk and two singles. However, with one out, Millsaps (2-0) induced a double play to keep the Eagles off the board. The Majors scored on a sacrifice fly in the first to grab an early 1-0 lead. The home team then scored four runs in the second frame on four hits and two Ozarks’ errors. Trailing 8-0 after five, the Eagles finally got on the board when Mitchell Powers roped a two-run single to score Chris Driedric and Jonathan Cox. Driedric reached base on a single of his own, while Cox got on board with an error. Michael Prusator kept the rally going with an RBI single. Tony Morales, who also reached on an error, crossed the plate to trim the deficit to 8-3. Millsaps responded by scoring three runs on four hits in the eighth.

Tyler Erickson (0-1) suffered the loss as the starter. Erickson lasted one and two-third innings before being replaced by Robert Smith. Smith tossed two shutout innings.

Driedric finished 2-for-4 with a run. Powers drove in two runs to lead Ozarks in the category.
