Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles baseball team dropped a 8-3 decision to Schreiner University on Friday afternoon in an American Southwest Conference crossover game that does not count in the league standings.

The Eagles (4-4) jumped out to a 3-1 lead after four innings of play when Trevor Holbert blasted his first home run of the season over the leftfield fence in the bottom of the fourth. Holbert’s shot knocked in Anthony Brandon and gave the Eagles momentum of the game. That momentum quickly changed in the fifth when Schreiner (2-5) scored four runs on four hits to quickly take a 5-3 advantage. The Mountaineers would tack on three more runs in the seventh inning and control Ozarks’ hitters giving up only three hits following Holbert’s home run. The Eagles left nine runners on base in the contest and collected five hits. Richard Morgan (0-1) received the loss. Justin Brown and Brian Heckmann led Ozarks with two hits apiece. The Eagles continue their three-game series with Schreiner tomorrow in a double-header beginning at noon.
