Eagles Defeat Arkansas Tech For Second Straight Year

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks baseball team defeated Arkansas Tech University for the second straight season with a 9-2 victory over the Wonder Boys in Russellville on Tuesday night.

Ozarks moves to 14-16 on the season while Tech drops to 15-19. The Eagles took the early momentum and all but put away the Wonder Boys in the second inning when they scored seven runs on seven hits. The Eagles sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the second, with Robby Finnell and Caleb Hilton each collecting two RBI apiece. Ozarks starting pitcher Bill Martin earned his first win of the season after pitching five innings. Martin (1-1) struck out two. Pitchers Tad Turner, D.J. Braswell and Tyler Gideon did not allow a run to finish the game and combined to strike out four. Leading 7-2 after the seventh inning, Ozarks added one run both in the eighth and the ninth. Jimmy Pannell finished the night 4-for-4. Hilton and Finnell each went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI. Tech committed three errors in the contest. The Eagles defeated Tech 5-4 last season in Russellville. Ozarks will host LeTourneau University in a three-game series this weekend. Friday’s game starts at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday’s double-header begins at 12:00 p.m.
