Clarksville, Ark.-East Texas Baptist University ended the Eagles baseball season with a pair of losses Saturday in Marshall, Texas.
The Tigers (14-26, 7-11 ASC) took game one, 11-5, even though they out hit the Eagles only 13-12. Mitchell Powers hit a solo home run in the first inning for a 1-0 advantage. The Tigers answered with a pair of solo homers of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Jake West had a two-run single in the second to provide Ozarks (8-32, 2-16 ASC) with a 3-2 lead. East Texas Baptist led 6-4 after four and then added four runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 10-4.
Each player in the Ozarks’ lineup had at least one hit, with West, Powers and Jacob Robbins recording two.
Senior Bobby Osburn (0-9) received the loss. Osburn finishes his three-year career at Ozarks ranked third in career strikeouts with 123.
The Tigers finished the series with a 7-3 win. East Texas Baptist again narrowly outhit Ozarks 11-10, and the Eagles stranded 12 runners. Michael Prusator hit a solo home run in the third to even the score 1-1. The Tigers produced three runs in the fourth, but Ozarks responded with two runs in the sixth on Freddy Prince’s single to climb within 4-3. But that would be the final runs for Ozarks.
Powers and Prince each collected two hits.
Senior Travis Conner (0-3) went six and one-third innings to receive the loss. Conner fanned six in his final outing.
