Clarksville, Ark.-An explosive Eagles' offense set the tone for a 4-2 victory over Mississippi College on Friday in the ASC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament in Tyler, Texas.

With the win, Ozarks (14-3-3) will advance to the semi-finals tomorrow and face host UT-Tyler at 11:00 a.m. It is the second straight season the Eagles have eliminated the Choctaws from the tournament. A fired up Ozarks team dominated early in the first half with a flurry of shots. Freshman forward Guido Salas hit one off the post in the 8th minute, and Dylan Evans followed three minutes later hitting one off the crossbar. Ryan Cooper, however, wouldn’t be denied as he scored on a left-footed shot in the 27th minute on a pass from Matt Engelman. Minutes later, the Eagles nearly scored again off a corner kick, but the half ended with the scored notched at 1-1.

Evans gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead when he chipped in a deflected ball in front of the goal in the 51st minute off a corner. Shaun Renfro had the assist. Salas followed with a goal in the 84th minute on another assist from Engelman. Mississippi College (11-4-3) closed the gap to 3-2 in the 86th minute, but Engelman answered with an unassisted goal just seconds later.

Salas led Ozarks with 6 shots. The Eagles had 22 in the match. Brian Sarber had 9 saves in goal for Ozarks.

Live audio will be available for tomorrow’s match on the UT-Tyler Sports Network. Live stats can also be found on the Patriots’ web site - http://www.uttyler.edu/athletics/.
