Clarksville, Ark.-Dagin Douglas netted the game-winning goal and Dylan Amacher scored the equalizer to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 win over Louisiana College Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
Louisiana College (7-7-2, 4-6-2 ASC) took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 13th minute, but Ozarks refused to go down easy. Amacher and Douglas, a pair of freshmen, played strong up front throughout the match. Their efforts proved worthy as Amacher netted a goal off a free kick from Shaun Keane in the 36th minute. Amacher’s header was his third goal of the season. Douglas then made the game-winning goal when he raced past his defender and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one in the 41st minute. It was his first goal of the season. Ozarks then held possession of the ball for most of the second half to keep the Wildcats off the board.
Ozarks’ goalkeeper Matt Mouer, who was honored prior to the match during a “Senior Day” ceremony, made a clutch save in the waning moments to secure the win. With just 10 seconds left in the match, Louisiana College’s Tulio Glasner broke free for a clean shot, but Mouer stood his ground and made a spectacular save. He finished with four saves.
