Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks teammates Dan De Hart and Matt Engelman have been named American Southwest Conference men's soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
De Hart, a senior defender, earned the Defensive Player of the Week nod and Engelman, a junior forward, was the ASC’s Offensive Player of the Week winner. De Hart, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound native of Rocklin, Calif., led a unit that recorded a pair of shutouts to help fuel a 2-0-0 week. De Hart limited East Texas Baptist’s leading scorer to no shots in a 3-0 win Thursday and allowed only one to LeTourneau’s top scorer in a 2-0 victory Saturday. ETBU had just one shot on goal. De Hart’s presence in the back limited the Eagles’ opponents to a combined 13 shots during the week. De Hart has started in all 17 matches and has scored a pair of goals thus far.
Engelman, a 5-foot-8, 190-pound native of Weatherford, Texas, notched two goals, including a game-winner, and two assists to pace an undefeated week for the Eagles. Engelman recorded the game-winning score in the 16th minute against LeTourneau and assisted on the final goal of a 2-0 win. He also fueled a victory over East Texas Baptist when he scored once and assisted on another. Engelman leads the team in goals (7), assists (7), points (21) and shots (41).
