David James Named ASC Runner of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore David James was named the American Southwest Conference men's cross country Runner of the Week, it was announced by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst Monday.

James, a native of Parthenon, Ark., ran a season-best 27:49 at the 8K Ted Lloyd Harding Bison Stampede in Searcy, Ark., on Saturday to finish 11th out of 58 runners. James fought through wet and muddy conditions to finish with the second-best time among runners from NCAA III schools. James has had two top-10 finishes this season, including a second-place finish at the Lyon College Invitational October 1.

James, who was voted the ASC Freshman of the Year last year, is a graduate of Jasper High School where he was the 2008 Class A overall individual cross country champion and a four-time All-State performer.

Ozarks will compete in the ASC Championships in Clinton, Mississippi, October 31.
