Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles dropped a 78-64 decision to the University of Texas-Dallas Comets on Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.

<#IMAGE:1#>Ozarks (5-12, 4-9) couldn’t slow a hot-shooting Comets’ (14-5, 9-5) team that ended the contest hitting 51 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the free throw line. The Comets held a 38-31 halftime advantage and extended their lead to 47-35 at the 15:43 mark of the second half on a Travis Carruthers bucket. The Eagles cut the deficit to 53-47 on a Ted Beard jumper five minutes later. Ozarks got to within 58-53 with 7:01 left in the contest, but UT-Dallas quickly went on a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to squash Ozarks’ hopes of a comeback. The Eagles went to the free throw line only 13 times, while the Comets hit 18-of-21 from the charity stripe. Ozarks shot 41 percent from the field in the game. Jeremy Clark had 13 points to lead Ozarks in scoring. David Green and Craig Watters each had 10 points. Ozarks will host University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday in the Hall of Fame Game. Former Ozarks stars Kenneth Little and Lori (Myers) Hines will be inducted following the women’s game that day.
