The University of the Ozarks' cross country teams and the Campus Activities Board will present the first Color the Eagles 5K run on Saturday, April 18.
The family-friendly event, which is part of Alumni Weekend 2015, will begin at 8 a.m. on Buchanan Street just south of the intramural fields. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. in the Mabee Gymnasium parking lot and the cost is $10 per runner. U of O students can enter the race by donating a canned food item.
During the race, U of O students will douse the runners with colored powder. There will also be prizes and awards given out. Families and children are encouraged to participate in this fun-filled event.
The colored powder will be a mix of Tempera paint powder and corn starch. The powder is non-toxic and is washable from skin, but not 100 percent washable from clothing, so it is recommended that runners wear clothing that they don’t mind having color powder on. The color powder does not contain latex, dairy, eggs, gluten, peanuts or soy. Participants are recommended to wear white shirts as well as a bandana to cover their mouths and sunglasses to cover their eyes.
Proceeds from the race will go to benefit the university’s men’s and women’s cross country programs.
