Coleman Nets Hat Trick

Clarksville, Ark.-Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Coleman recorded her first collegiate hat trick in a 3-2 overtime win against LeTourneau University on Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

LeTourneau (5-12-0, 3-8-0) got the match’s first goal when they scored on a penalty kick in the 20th minute. Ozarks battled back early in the second half behind Coleman and Heather Dryden. The two attacked the LeTourneau defense and Coleman eventually hit one off the cross bar in the 60th minute. Coleman wouldn’t be denied in the 80th minute as she ripped one past the keeper to tie it at 1-1. Coleman wasn’t done as she scored again in the 82nd minute to give Ozarks (7-10-0, 5-6-0) a 2-1 lead. LeTourneau however would answer with a goal in the 84th minute to send the match into overtime. The scored remained 2-2 until Coleman broke free for her third goal of the match in the 93rd minute.

Ozarks owned a 11-7 shots advantage, with Coleman recording seven of those.

Marisa Maldonado, Kristi Gordon, Kaitlyn Williams and Dryden had assists.

Ozarks will travel to Austin, Texas, to face Concordia University Texas October 30. They will then go to Tyler, Texas, to play UT-Tyler November 1.

Game notes:
-Chelsea Coleman’s hat trick was the first for Ozarks this season. It was the first multiple-goal game of her career. She also has three game-winning goals this season.
-It was the first overtime match of the season for Ozarks. They played in five of them a year ago.
-Ozarks matched the program’s all-time single season win record with seven. The 2006 team went 7-10-2 and the 2007 team finished 7-6-4.
-The Lady Eagles own a winning record against LeTourneau. Prior to Saturday’s win, Ozarks was 7-7-2 all-time.
