Cody Ellis Scores Game-Winner In 80th Minute

Clarksville, Ark.-Cody Ellis broke a 0-0 tie in the 80th minute when he connected on a shot from fifteen yards out to propel the Eagles to a 1-0 American Southwest Conference victory over McMurry University on Saturday afternoon.

The freshman from Richardson, Texas, darted towards the goal and hit his only shot of the match to help Ozarks (10-2-2, 6-1-1) remain in contention for a conference championship. Ellis’ game-winner was set up by a pass from senior Malcolm Williams. The win also avenges a 3-0 loss to McMurry (5-9-2, 3-5-2) in the ASC playoffs last season and evens the all-time record against the Indians to 3-3-0. It was Ozarks eighth shutout of the season. ????? The Eagles hammered out 14 shots in the match while holding the Indians to nine. The Eagles continue to be a balanced and deep team as eight different players had shots in the match. Ron Hogsett had a team-best three. ????? Goalkeeper Brian Sarber had four saves. He is credited with his fifth shutout this season. ????? The Eagles will host UT-Tyler on October 18 in ASC action. The match will start at 1:00 p.m.
