Cllarksville, Ark.-U of O Senior defender Aaron Coats and junior forward Ricky Herrera were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's Soccer All-Central Region Team.
Coats, a 5-10, 155-pounder from Eagle, Idaho, was named to the second team and Herrera, a 5-10, 150-pounder from Las Cruces, New Mexico, was named to the third team. Coats helped Ozarks establish a school record this season in shutouts (10), goals against average (1.03) and fewest goals allowed (21). Coats earned All-American Southwest Conference honors this season and was named to the ASC All-East Division First Team for the third year. He was the 2001 ASC East Division Defensive Player of the Year and is the career leader at Ozarks in games played (82). Coats has been a member of the ASC All-Academic team for three seasons. Herrera also earned All-ASC honors this season, marking the second time in his career he has been named to the squad. Hererra has been named to the ASC All-East Division First Team in each of his three seasons at Ozarks. This season, Herrera led the conference in goals (14) and finished second in points (30). He is the career leader at Ozarks in game winning goals (13) and ranks second in career goals (44) and career points (104). He also is third in career shots (156) and fourth in career assists (16). Herrera was the 2000 ASC East Division Offensive Freshman of the Year and the 2002 ASC East Division Offensive Preseason Player of the Year. He has been a member of the ASC All-Academic team for two seasons.
