Classes begin Aug. 26 at University of the Ozarks

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks officials will welcome approximately 260 new students to campus on Thursday, Aug. 21, for New Student Orientation as the university begins the 2008-2009 academic year.

The university’s residence halls will open on Thursday, Aug. 21, and New Student Orientation will begin with the annual President’s Picnic that evening at the President’s Home. Classes begin on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

New Student Orientation will include a welcome ceremony at 10 a.m. on Aug. 22; the New Student Matriculation Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 22; and small group sessions for parents and students on Saturday, Aug. 23. There will also be numerous other activities and entertainment throughout the weekend to help students and parents become acclimated to college life.

Other important dates for the Fall 2008 Semester at U of O include: Family Weekend, Oct. 10-11; Fall Break, Oct. 30-31; last day to drop classes, Nov. 11; Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 26-28; last day of regular classes, Dec. 12; final exams, Dec. 15-18; and Fall Commencement, Dec. 17.

There is still time to register for classes at U of O. The final day to register is Sept. 2. For more information on enrolling at Ozarks, call the Admission Office at 479-979-1227.
