Clarksville, Ark.-U of O sophomore defender C.J. Smith was named American Southwest Conference East Division Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Eagles (10-4-1), (8-2-1) to two key conference wins over the weekend.
Smith, a 5-8, 170-pound native of Jackson, Mississippi, marked the top strikers for East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau, while helping Ozarks to back-to-back shutouts last weekend and pushing the Eagles’ consecutive win streak to eight with shutouts in four of the last five matches. Smith’s defensive play this season has kept the Eagles in contention for their fourth consecutive playoff appearance. Smith has started in 10 matches for Ozarks this season and has started in 14 career matches. He is a 2002 graduate of Callaway High School.
