Clarksville, Ark. --- Despite being the smallest group there, the University of the Ozarks' cheerleading squad more than held its own at a recent Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) Camp held at Missouri State University.
The six-member U of O squad spent most of the three-day camp learning new cheers and sideline chants. On the final day the squad competed in the small coed division (14 members or less), winning first place in sideline competition and second place in the cheer competition. The Eagles’ mascot also placed during the competition, earning a superior recognition.
“We became known as the small but mighty squad since we were by far the smallest team in the small coed division,” said Ozarks Cheerleading Sponsor Kay Merritt. “The team did a great job throughout the camp and represented the University in an outstanding manner.”
The U of O team members included (front row, from left) Rachel Watley, Natalie Grove, Cassie Saorrono (mascot), CharLee Sloan, Jennifer Fretwell and (back row) Brett Spahn.
